08Characteristics of the crypto-assetNEWT (the “Token”) will be launched as an ERC-20 token on the Ethereum blockchain. The Token will provide its holders with a set of rights within the Newton Protocol Ecosystem (the “Ecosystem”). Token holders will be able to stake the Token to help secure the Protocol and to participate in the Protocol’s governance by voting on proposals to modify and update the Newton Protocol (the “Protocol”). Additionally, those who stake the Token will be rewarded with Token for helping to secure the Protocol. Once the Protocol reaches the appropriate stage of maturity, the Token will also be used to pay the Protocol’s fees and reward validators. Any changes based on proposals can only occur through a governance vote by the Protocol governance, meaning that any modifications require the approval of those who have staked the Token.
